Basic Package Tracking is available as an off-the-shelf package and can help increase the speed of work flow in the shipping/receiving department. Delivery of packages is expedited and costly time taken to find missing or lost packages is reduced. Utilizing the signature capture capability, system logon and password features, accountability of all parties increases. Barcode technology used by most delivery companies is to identify the package. Portable terminals that support signature capture and barcode capabilities can make the tracking process convenient, allowing the person making deliveries to stay mobile. This mobility not only streamlines the delivery of the packages, but also allows the recipient the convenience of signing for the package at his or her desk. Reports and screen views provide the necessary information to keep track of everything received and delivered. See the following sections below for more information:

How They Work
Basic Package Tracking keeps track of your packages.
Receive Package: The receiving location scans in the packages using the same barcodes used by the carrier. Packages are matched to the intended recipient. The receiver does this by using the workstation and/or portable scanning hardware.
Notify Recipient: The receiver notifies the package recipient of the package for pick-up or delivery. E-mail notifications automate this process.
Store Package: The package is then stored awaiting the pick-up or delivery. The system tracks the storage location.
Deliver Package: If flagged for delivery, the receiver then follows a streamlined routing specified by the system.
