Basic Labeling and Marking usually involves applying labels with linear or 2D barcode to products and packages. This can include applying UPC product codes on products for retail sale and labeling cases and pallets for shipping and receiving of goods. Direct part marking, as the name suggests, typically involves marking the product or packaging of the part directly. This is often used to identify the item by the product number, serial number, date code, or lot number (of a combination of these) anytime during the product's life.
